Finance Director
POSITION SUMMARY
The Finance Director is responsible for managing the financial operations of the church. This role provides operational oversight and day-to-day accounting activities to ensure that every transaction is properly accounted for. The Finance Director will use their personal gifting and skill set to fulfill the required finance tasks, while also equipping and directing the work of staff and volunteers to complete assigned projects. This role provides management to financial operations and creates an environment of financial integrity and regulatory compliance, while providing clear and concise reporting for decision making.
QUALIFICATIONS
Character: The Finance Director must be a person of irreproachable character (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9), who is sound in Christian faith and doctrine. They must be in full accord with the Pathway Statement of Faith and be willing to perform their duties in accordance with the Constitution, By-laws, and Employee Manual of the church.
Management: Demonstrated ability to recruit, equip, and lead ministry systems, staff, and volunteers.
Knowledge: Demonstrated desire to be a life-long learner. Possesses significant knowledge of financial processes, standards, and up-to-date technology systems. Must be tech savvy and willing to learn new technologies. Strong administrative and organizational skills. Excellent verbal, written, and phone communication.
Technologically Savvy: Exceptionally gifted with QuickBooks; advanced skills with MS Office Word and Excel; proficient skill with e-mail software; familiarity with and/or willingness to learn church management software and additional financial technology applications.
Education: Minimum of an associate’s degree and training in the areas of responsibility.
Team Player: Committed to the vision of the church, able to take directions from supervisor and work cooperatively with other members of the staff, congregation, and vendors.
Exceptional Character & Attitude: Embodies patience, reliability, and attention to detail. Exercises good judgment and discretion; maintains confidentiality.
Ability to Adapt Quickly to Changing Demands & Deadlines: Demonstrates flexibility in the face of change or uncertainty, while maintaining professionalism and determination to accomplish goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Oversight: Manages daily, weekly, monthly, and annual accounting, accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, and cash flow. Uses QuickBooks Online and other financial technology to streamline processes and ensure that the church adheres to internal controls, GAAP, and auditor guidance.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Monitors income and expenses and creates financial projections.
Reporting: Prepares financial statements for the executive pastor and elder board.
Payroll & Compliance: Manages payroll, tax filings, and ensures compliance with IRS and accounting regulations.
Stewardship & Controls: Ensures internal controls to secure assets and oversees contribution record-keeping.
Investment Management: Monitors bank accounts, investment portfolios, and endowments.

HOURS AND SCHEDULE
Regularly up to 15 hours per week. More may be required at the end of reporting periods. Schedule is flexible and arranged with supervisor.
