Exile
Despite repeated warnings from God's prophets, Judah continued in rebellion until Jerusalem fell and the people were carried into exile. Yet even amid devastating loss, God had not abandoned His people or forgotten His promises. Discover how the exile reveals God's faithfulness, His presence in difficult circumstances, and His ongoing work to restore what sin has broken.
Kingdom
God fulfills His promise to give Israel a land, but even with His provision and guidance, the people repeatedly turn away from Him. As Israel moves from the conquest of Canaan through the judges and the rise and fall of its kings, the need for something greater becomes clear. Through it all, God remains faithful to His promises, preserving the royal line through which the perfect King will one day come.
Rescue
God’s rescue of Israel from Egypt is about more than freedom from slavery. Through the Exodus, the giving of His law, and the tabernacle, God reveals His power, His way, and His desire to dwell with His people. The story points toward our own need for rescue and the greater Rescuer still to come: Jesus. God doesn’t simply rescue His people from something; He rescues them for Himself.
Promise
God’s promise to Abraham was never dependent on perfect people or perfect circumstances—it rested on the faithfulness of God. From Abraham’s call, through years of waiting, and into Joseph’s suffering in Egypt, God continued making a way for His purpose. The same promise ultimately points beyond one family to God’s plan to bring blessing, salvation, and restored fellowship to the world.
Creation
The Bible begins with a perfect world where humanity lives in fellowship with God, but sin quickly fractures that design and spreads through every part of human life. Genesis 1–11 shows both the seriousness of sin and the justice of God, while also revealing something just as important: God does not abandon His purpose. Human failure does not get the final word, because the story of God is still moving forward.
Jehovah Jireh: The God Who Provides
Jehovah Jireh means “The Lord Will Provide,” and Genesis 22 shows us exactly what that looks like. Through Abraham’s obedience and God’s timely intervention, we’re reminded that God provides guidance, courage, and solutions even when the path feels unbearable. Ultimately, this story points us to Jesus — the greatest provision of all.
El Roi: The God Who Sees
This Advent, we begin our series He Shall Be Called by exploring one of God’s most comforting names: El Roi—the God Who Sees. In Hagar’s story from Genesis 16, we meet a God who seeks out the hurting, hears their affliction, and responds with compassion. This message reminds us that no matter how unseen or overwhelmed we may feel, God’s gaze is fixed on us with love and care.
