House Rules
1. Fix Your Focus
Hebrews calls you to lift your eyes beyond the weight of daily concerns and remember your heavenly calling. Life quickly fills with responsibilities, distractions, and anxieties that pull attention away from what matters most. Without intention, focus drifts toward what is urgent rather than what is ultimate.
To counter this, fix your thoughts on Jesus. This is not a casual glance but a deliberate, sustained attention. What occupies your focus will shape your faith. Focusing on problems leads to defeat. Focusing on others leads to insecurity. Focusing on Jesus brings clarity and perspective.
Fixing your focus means bringing every thought under the authority of Christ. It means pausing before reacting and allowing a heavenly perspective to guide your decisions. When your mind is anchored in Him, you are able to navigate life with wisdom instead of being driven by fear or distraction.
2. Honor the Builder
Moses was faithful in God’s house, but he was part of what God was building—not the source of it. Jesus stands in a different category entirely. He is not just a servant within the house; He is the builder of it.
Every well-built house reflects the vision and skill of its designer. In the same way, creation and the people of God reflect the work of their Creator. The focus must not remain on what is visible, but on the One behind it all.
Recognizing God’s Authority
Honoring the builder means acknowledging that life is not self-constructed. It requires surrendering control and trusting God’s authority over every area. The temptation is to take ownership of what ultimately belongs to Him, but true wisdom recognizes His role as the master architect.
Trusting the Process
Life often feels unfinished, like a project still under construction. There are seasons that lack clarity or resolution. Yet God is continually shaping, growing, and refining. Instead of trying to rewrite the plans, trust that He knows exactly what He is doing and will bring His work to completion.
3. Hold Your Ground
Moses served faithfully in God’s house, but Christ rules over it as the Son. And those who belong to Him are part of that house—if they hold firmly to their confidence and hope.
Holding your ground is not about earning your place but demonstrating the reality of your faith. It is a call to perseverance.
Guard Against Drift
Spiritual drift rarely happens suddenly. It begins with small distractions that lead to neglect, then disinterest, and eventually distance. No one plans to drift, but it happens when attention and commitment are not maintained.
Stay Anchored in Hope
Holding firmly means remaining anchored even when circumstances are difficult. Faith is not the absence of struggle, but the decision to stay connected to God in the midst of it. Like holding onto a rope tied to the dock, staying anchored prevents drifting away.
Live with Steady Faith
Holding your ground means continuing to show up—spiritually and physically—even when it is difficult. It means trusting God when life does not make sense and believing that He is building something good, even when it cannot yet be seen.
Life may feel like a renovation, with pieces scattered and unfinished. But if you belong to Him, the work is not abandoned. God is actively building something purposeful and complete.
Fix your focus on Jesus. Honor the builder. Hold your ground.
