Congratulations! Whether you decided to start following Jesus, recommitted to following Jesus or if you just need prayer, please remember this: Jesus loves you!

So, what does my decision to follow Jesus mean? It means you understand the Gospel with your mind and believe it in your heart. The word Gospel may be new to you, but it simply means “good news.” And here’s why it’s such good news for all of us:

G = God created us to be with Him.

O = Our sins separate us from God.

S = Sins cannot be removed by good deeds.

P = Paying the price for sin, Jesus died and rose again.

E = Everyone who trusts in Him alone has eternal life.

L = Life with Jesus starts now and lasts forever.

Jesus is available to everyone who will believe.

So, what should I do next? First, start talking to God through prayer. Take time each day to talk to him like a friend. He is ready to listen to your concerns, hear about things that make you happy, and anything else that is on your mind. He also wants to share with you want is on his mind and how you can follow him.

Second, take time each day to read the Bible. You can download the app that gives you access to the Bible in all your devices at Bible.com. What should you read? You can choose a “Plan” of your choice on the upper left side of the screen on your computer or on the bottom menu bar of your device. To make things easy, here’s a 20-day devotional called “20 Days in the book of 1 John.”

Finally, spending time each week with other people who are following Jesus helps encourage you and give you a place to belong. Each week at Pathway Church our middle school students gather for Ignite (Wednesday 6:30-8:15) and high school for Wired (Sunday 7-9:15pm). This is a time like BASH Night where we have fun and encourage each other to follow Jesus.

Remember, you don’t need to have all the answers. But following Jesus is the beginning of a life-long journey to know God.
