Mukti 5K Race & 1 Mile Walk - UPDATE!
Thank you to all the runners, walkers, sponsors and volunteers that participated in this year’s Mukti 5K on Saturday, April 20! Because of your efforts, approximately $7,000 was raised for the Mukti Project! This year, we had 271 registered participants between the 5K & 1 mile course. And 28 volunteers donated their time inside and outside to help make this event a success.
The winner of the 5K was Matt Montellanico with a time of 17:04. And the winner of the 1 Mile race was Andrew Geisler with a time of 10:24.
All the proceeds of the race are being donated toward the The Mukti Training Center in West Bengal, India, specifically to help build a protection wall around the property. The Center can’t begin to build the actual facility until this wall is constructed. This Center will prevent girls from being trapped in the sex trade and will help to address the needs of rescued trafficking survivors. In these shelters, the women are educated, counseled, learn sewing, embroidery, jewelry making and other job skills to empower them to earn a living while the gospel is being shared. This practical training, combined with the transforming love of Christ, brings freedom, hope and new life to these women! Thank you again for your support. How encouraging it is to see everyone come together to help build this wall against trafficking!
